Haiti Update: Death Tolls Climb; Haitians Fight for Democracy
Friends and family,
We continue to pray as our the HaitiChildren staff at our Village in Haiti maintain their heroic efforts to care for our children. It has been a tough year for the citizens, through environmental challenges and political unrest. The Haitian people are in the middle of a volatile pro-Democracy movement. Police violence escalates and the death toll of protesters has climbed to 20 people, including a 16 year old boy and several journalist. Please keep Haiti in your prayers and hearts, as we at HaitiChildren continue to work with our Haitian Team – to find solutions, peace, and hope for our children. We continue our mission to protect and help the children of Haiti, so that they may become the leaders that Haiti needs.
This article from TruthOut.org gives provides an extensive report of the ongoing political unrest.
