Dear HaitiChildren Family and Friends,
I want to sincerely thank you for your unwavering support and donations to our Christian ministry. Your generosity has been a true blessing, enabling us to carry out our mission to save the lives of over 400 infants and toddlers during our 14-year program in the “abandoned baby unit” inside Haiti’s government hospital. Many of these children were born with disabilities that are viewed as a voodoo curse in Haiti. HaitiChildren hired 24/7 medical staff to nurture each child until they could be placed in permanent homes. We have raised over 120 of these children to adulthood, providing live-in caregivers, full-time medical staff, and access to primary and secondary education. Additionally, we have facilitated visits for many of these children to our U.S. donors and college campuses, allowing them to connect with those who support our mission. Thank you deeply for supporting HaitiChildren during our 32 years serving Jesus in one of the most challenging environments, a reality that is often incomprehensible for those who haven’t visited.
Recently, we faced a deeply troubling incident when two individuals connected to our ministry were kidnapped. It is especially painful to learn that the gang leaders responsible were once young boys raised in our Christian children’s residence—now in their late twenties—whom we prayed over, worshiped with, and loved. This sorrow is difficult to express. They each bore marks of “satanism,” and the ritual abuse of the victims is something that cannot be unseen once witnessed.
By God’s mercy, the two victims were returned alive but in critical condition. They are now grappling with significant wounds and trauma, and they need our continued prayers for healing and protection.
Due to threats from these gang leaders, we have ceased all Haitian relief efforts except for the most critical life-or-death interventions. We have evacuated our premises and offered the remaining orphan residents—now older teenagers—the choice to leave with us for an emergency facility. Thankfully, we are sufficiently funded to ensure that those who decide to relocate with our staff receive the necessary medical and nutritional support during this crisis.
While we are currently unable to safely operate our programs, your prayers are needed more than ever for justice, repentance, and divine safety for every vulnerable child whose life has been touched by our ministry.
HaitiChildren’s founders and Board of Directors have prayed about our decision to cease fundraising efforts, as we believe we can meet our financial needs through the end of the year.
In urgent need of prayer,
Susie Krabacher and your
