Hello Everyone!

It’s time for another weekly artist feature, as we continue celebrating the artists who will make the musical Unfolded based on my book, Angels of a Lower Flight. I am so humbled by this production, and I am so inspired by all the talented individuals who are working on it. This week, I’d like to introduce the lovely Amanda Tarver. Ms. Tarver will be playing one of the very important characters from my experiences in Haiti over the years. Unfolded will put to music a story of a journey, through highs and lows, that we at HaitiChildren remain committed to. I look forward to seeing her passion and talent live this fall on October 26th. She is truly a gifted artist!

Amanda Tarver has performed with the Chicago Lyric Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Castleton Opera, Chautauqua Opera, as well as with many regional theater and opera companies. As a soloist on the concert stage, she has performed such works as the Duraflé Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Bach Magnificat and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Oak Park Symphony, Chicago Chorale Society, and Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

She has performed in recitals with the esteemed composer and dear colleague, Jake Heggie, featuring some of his newest works. In the fall of 2016, she performed in a workshop of Jake Heggie’s newest opera, It’s a Wonderful Life at the Guggenheim Museum Concert Series in NYC.

Ms. Tarver resides in New York City where she has been performing with the Metropolitan Opera as a chorister since 2012. She is excited to lend her support and time for such a worthy and noble cause as HaitiChildren.

Our team is honored to have the opportunity to see Ms. Tarver perform this fall at our fundraiser in New York. We at HaitiChildren love our little angels so much. It touches my heart when I know that our community of support and love is growing. We are truly grateful to Ms. Tarver and all the artists involved in these exciting projects.

Blessings,

Susie
