A fire that killed 15 children in Haiti happened at an orphanage run by a PA organization. We would like to extend our condolences to the 15 children and 2 adults who passed in the fire at the Orphanage of the Church of Bible Understanding on February 13th.

This tragedy could have been averted.  This “orphanage” was not an orphanage at all.  The children were not deemed orphans as many of them had parents who were promised a better life for their children if they let them stay in this asylum.  The owners raised millions of dollars in the U.S claiming the children would benefit from these donations, be educated and given medical care.

PLEASE BE ADVISED NOT TO DONATE TO ANY ORPHANAGE IN HAITI UNLESS THEY ARE A LICENSED AND REGULATED ORPHANAGE.

There are over 700 “pop up” orphanages in Haiti.  Children are exploited, abused and often sold.  There are only 35 licensed children’s orphanages in Haiti.  HaitiChildren is one of 35 and one of only two orphanages that rescue disabled abandoned children with onsite physical therapy and 24-hour medical care.

Please do your research before making donations if you are unsure of how to start please reach out to me. I am more than happy to check with the division of Child Services (IBERS) for you to research the orphanage you are considering donating to. This site shows if they are licensed or have a negative record of child neglect.

Thank you for helping us continue to make a difference in Haiti!
